Dean Zulich, Mask
Opening night was beautiful (warm for this time of the year, which made it a perfect evening for a stroll in the city), filled with exhilarating art and fashion pieces, delicious hors d’oeuvres and an interesting crowd.
I am so proud that one of the designers that we feature on Portmanteau, OSHYOSH, was presenting their pieces at this event. Earlier, on our Facebook page, I posted a picture of the following dress that was exhibited.
Another Bosnian born fashion designer that I admire was Naida Begeta of KAO PAO SHU. Her pieces are a work of diligence and perfection.
Eye catching and dazzling were jewelry pieces by Mia Hebib. Mia was born in Sarajevo and she presently resides in Brooklyn, NY where she creates pieces in her jewelry studio Oblik Atelier. I wish I had a better picture to showcase her designs, because the picture below simply doesn’t do her justice.
There were many photographs.
For me personally, photographs of the Sarajevo Ballet by Irfan Redzovic (my brother… yes, I am proud of him!!!) were among my favorites.
Vanja Lisac’s photograph of Children was great.
Seyo Cizmic’s “Secret Code”.
Many, many great pieces and artists… really you should go and check it out, otherwise this post would be too long.
In short, about the exhibition:
“Bosnian Born is an Art Exhibit celebrating the creativity, perseverance and survival of human spirit through art, film, photography, design and fashion. It features more than 25 acclaimed artists born in Bosnia, but who now live across the Balkans, Middle East, Europe, and the United States”.
Bosnian Born started in L.A. earlier this year and it was kindly hosted and organized by the Green Cube Gallery. This month, the exhibition came to Boston, and it will be here until January 15th. So, if you are in the Boston area, please go and check it out.
