Hallway

What’s coming up for Milan Senic’s spring/summer collection 2013? Take a look at the Hallway, a fashion video editorial directed by Zinka Bejtic.

“Hallway, a neutral and ordinary space where a woman becomes beautiful, confident and powerful. The new collection of fashion designer Milan Senic is presented through the concept of delirium that happens in a hallway for every woman while she is trying on many different outfits looking for that perfect one.”

Enjoy!

P.S Do you look for the perfect outfit every time, or do you just throw something on? Where do your transformations happen? Hallway, bedroom…?

When Art Meets Good Deeds…

Dean Zulich, Mask

… Amazing things happen. I was lucky enough to attend the opening of the Bosnian Born exhibition in Boston. This was such a compliment to both sides involved: the artists and the Bosana Foundation.

How about a Raincoat?

Fall is here. It sure is. I had to turn the heat on the other morning, and for me, that alone is a sign of autumn coming; colder days, rain, mud and all the fun stuff to come.

Are you ready? Do you have a nice pair of boots and a raincoat?

For me, a raincoat is no fun. It can’t be functional, elegant, funky or chic enough, all at the same time. Even when you want to feel totally dressed up and show it off, the raincoat will work against you. It will cover you up.

Trends

Are you a trendsetter, a trend follower or something in between? Do you need to have the latest fashion goodies in your closet? I must admit, I always keep my eye on fashion trends, but rarely follow.

This spring and summer, the ‘Mullet’ skirt made its debut.  My guess is that its name comes from the 80s bad hair style. Short in the front and long in the back. I am old enough to remember.

And then last month I came across a ‘Mullet’ Skirt post on Design Mom (which is, by the way, an awesome blog and a great resource of mine,) and I thought… no way!

Little did I know… Just a few weeks later, this beautiful photograph (above) caught my eye. This is the ‘Mullet’ dress or as I like to think … a better version of it. It is one of AMNA’s fabulous and amazing creations. It is made out of two pieces; a long shirt of muslin that nicely hugs over the cotton part of the dress.

Please read more about AMNA on our web site, as she is one of the designers we feature. We are so lucky to carry some of her creations.

What’s Cooking?

Unfortunately (for me and my family), nothing in my kitchen. But, at PORTMANTEAU we are excited to tell you that we are collaborating with a very talented and up and coming young designer. His name is MILAN SENIC, whose creations you will have an opportunity to purchase in our store, very soon. He is an incredibly talented young man in many artistic forms.  A writer for an alternative culture magazine URBAN BUG, a stylist, a costume and a fashion designer, it seems that Milan Senic doesn’t lack creativity when it comes to self-expression.

Tale of a Skirt

Do you love multi-functional, transforming pieces?  I do! Do you own something that you can wear in many ways? Or, do you own a product that has various functions? I would love to hear about them. Like a Thneed … It’s a shirt. It’s a sock. It’s a glove. It’s a hat. But it has other uses. Yes, the Lorax is one of our favorite stories.

Moi-Toi Hanger

How fancy and creative can you get when it comes to a hanger?
Well, if you have a wild imagination like Neira Sinabasic, of SHE:YOU, then anything is possible.
Moi-Toi‘s concept is basically to have fun with your clothes. Well lets just say ‘Moi-Toi’ is a fun and playful way of sorting your clothes. It is made of cable, plastic tubing, wire and felt. The arms are flexible and you can play with them, make different forms, and hang them in different ways. You can take it dancing when everyone else has ditched you.
When the idea of Moi-Toi was born, Neira was mostly thinking about retail store windows. How rad would it be to replace all mannequins, with this little piece of wire that can do much more?
The idea took off and soon enough people liked having a Moi-Toi in their closet or on their door hook.

You can find Moi-Toi hangers in our PORTMANTEAU store.
